Hello Singapore Gooners,
Just like that, we say good bye to January 2012. To be honest, it wasn't a fantastic month for the Gunners but we're at least still in two cup competition.
Can't say the same for the BPL though. A single point in the last four games does not augur well for the race to 4th spot. As it is, we're 7th in the table and 5 points behind 4th spot Chelsea. If the team doesn't buck up, we may have to prepare for a season without Champions League football. That's unless, of course, if we win the elusive cup this year.
So it's natural to feel angry or frustrated after seeing our beloved club not get a win again. And it's only natural to voice disappointments and concerns. But some of the criticisms have turned into ridiculous abuse towards the players and manager. One abuse on Ramsey was so vile - someone suggested that his performance was responsible for Gary Speed's death...
While we should not support with blind faith, we also should not be abusing our players and manager. How would that be motivating them? How will it improve things on the pitch? Views should be balanced. It's a black day for Arsenal when fans turn against the players and each other so violently because the team didn't win.
No team has the right to win every single game!
At the moment, the team is going through a bad patch and needs its fans more than ever. If we can't help the team on the pitch, let's at least band together and get behind the club we love, The Arsenal! The next live game is this Saturday, 4 Feb. Arsenal hosts Blackburn and KO is at 9pm. The Liz will screen it so let's show our support!
On a happier note, Arsenal Singapore will be celebrating our 5th Anniversary this year and we will be doing it in style with a big party. Mark down Saturday, 31 March 2012 on your calendar as that will be the night we will eat, drink and be very merry (some will be very Mary after some drinks, I'm sure). The exco is working hard to make sure you have a great time on that night so block that date and look out for more details next week!
Before I end off this week's newsletter, I want to say Arsenal ain't in any crisis. Don't believe anything you read. Crisis is when you were once a mighty club like Leeds, West Ham, Southampton, Ipswich or even two-time European Champs, Nottingham Forest. Crisis is also when you haven't won a league title for over 50 years and whose manager is about to go to prison...
Crisis? I think not.
COYG,
Kevin

Hello Singapore Gooners,
Let's tell it like it is...
The stage was set. Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle & sp*rs dropped points and that was our glorious chance to make up grounds on the leaders but somehow, the Gunners didn't get the script. We had to lose to United last week. Again.
And make that 3 league defeats in a row. No wonder the boos rang out. There were even calls for Wenger's head...
The thing is, not everything looks so bleak.
1) In a twisted way, the fans still care and that's why some jeered the team.
2) Players like the Ox, Yennaris, Ignasi & Coquelin are slowly coming through the ranks, joining the first team AND looking good.
3) There is still a lot of football to play and the Gunners have time to make up for the bad results.
4) Our injured are slowly coming back!
So what should Wenger do? It's a debate that's too long to discuss here so make your way to our forum, facebook page or even twitter feed and air your thoughts.
Like the team, I hope we all get over the defeat quick because the team is still in the Champions League & FA Cup competitions. This Sunday night, we host Aston Villa in an FA Cup tie. Arteta and Henry should be back. I'm personally waiting for Sagna & Wilshere to be fit again. We need our warriors.
The Liz will be open for this. KO is on Sunday night, 11.55pm. Join us if you can. But wherever you will be watching this game, just get behind the team. That's the best we fans can do.
Before I end off this week's newsletter, a gentle reminder to any other fans that visit the Liz:
You are welcome to the club and to back your team. Sing your terrace songs. We love a good football atmosphere. When your team scores, feel free to celebrate. During the Carling Cup Finals last year, a group of Birmingham fans backed their team and no one begrudged them of their victory celebration.
However, please do not come to the Liz and disrespect the Gooners. You don't visit your friend's house and spit on the sofa, do you? That is only basic courtesy. So please show respect at the Liz. The Singapore Gooners will do likewise.
Having said that, see you guys this Sunday night.
COYG,
Kevin
